WhatsApp announces voice and video call features for the desktop App. The calls will be end-to-end encrypted the same as the smartphone one.
Undoubtedly, in the present situation of CONVID-19, we avoid physical meetings to our near and dear ones. So, voice and video calls are the prime medium to stay connected. And WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging apps. However, due to change in its privacy terms, WhatsApp faced backlash from people. So, it had to postpone its agreement of how the new policy will appear and also the company is going to change the way users can agree to their new policy.
Now, in its recent update, WhatsApp is rolling out audio and video calls on the bigger screen. Till, now you can connect to WhatsApp on your desktop and use it to see and receive text messages.

With this new update, people will be able to make desktop calling, that will support both portrait and landscape orientation. It will appear as a resizable window on your desktop screen that will always appear on the top. As a result you will be able to quickly receive your video calls within the browser tab or other open windows.
WhatsApp also confirms that the voice and video calls will be end-to-end encrypted. And hence WhatsApp cannot hear or view them, whether you are taking calls from phone or desktop.
“We’re starting with one-to-one calls on the WhatsApp desktop app so we make sure we can give you a reliable and high-quality experience,” says WhatsApp.
WhatsApp will be expanding this feature to group voice and video calling too in near future.
