Microsoft announced Team Panels to help people at office to easily schedule meeting rooms.
“As companies begin to reopen their offices, and conference rooms and meeting spaces become busy again, optimizing how they are utilized will be key to everyone’s success.”
At Ignite 2020, Microsoft announced Team panels to support the hybrid workspace. It will provide a time management solution when people will be back at their office. This can surely transform the Team meeting experience as it supports various devices. Its a compact digital display that can be mounted within the office premises or better outside the meeting room.
These device when paired with “Microsoft Teams Rooms” or “Surface Hub devices” can help booking ad-hoc meetings on the panels, check room availability, send reminders or join the same meeting panel. Microsoft announced it is now generally available.
Team Panel Helps Scheduling ad-hoc meetings
“With Teams Panels, employees can book an available room on the spot or find another time slot and reserve it right from the panel. With vibrant, color-coded LED indicators, it’s easy to determine space availability from a distance. And, the intuitive and easy-to-read UI presents space and meeting information, so you can confirm you’re in the right place at the right time, says Microsoft.
The most highlighted feature of Team Panel is ad hoc meeting scheduler. So, rather than waiting for your meeting or just jumping into another meeting to remind them. You can see the status of the meeting.
The next available time slot will appear as green, so to book it you need to tap on it and instantly book it for your chosen time slot.
And while the best end-to-end experience is pairing a Teams panel with another Teams device or Teams Room configuration, you can add a panel outside of any meeting space, allowing users to schedule any room through Outlook or right from the panel itself.”
Microsoft says that the Teams Panels are now available to its partners Crestron and Yealink which will be released in April 2021. These devices are digitally optimized full-touch screens with LED indicators. These devices will work seemingly when paired with Microsoft Teams.
More Feature to Come Up With Team Panel
Microsoft is currently planning to launch four new features that will support people present in the meeting.

- Nearby Rooms: lets employees view the building floor plan and book another room when a space is unavailable.
- Room Check-in Notification: sends a message to the in-room display that people in the next meeting are waiting outside.
- Remove Unused Scheduled Room: identifies and allows for the removal of ‘ghost’ meetings. In order to free up unused meeting space time slots.
