Apple Unveils New iPad Air Featuring M1 Chip and Optional 5G Technology

Apple unveiled new iPad Air at its first event of 2022, titled as “Peek Performance“. With plenty of its lineup products, Apple introduced M1 ultra the next-big game changer in the Apple Silicon chip. M1 Ultra is flagged as “the world’s most powerful chip for a personal computer“. The chip features in the all new “Mac Studio” that delivers breathtaking computing performance.

Additionally, Apple announced many other products, including:

  • 27-inch Studio Display,
  • new iPad Air,
  • new iPhone SE, and
  • two new shades of green for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro.

All-new iPad Air Featuring Powerful M1 chip

Apple brings its powerful M1 chip to the iPad Air, that also features in iPad Pro, 5G connectivity, center stage front camera and USB-C port for faster connectivity.

With M1 chip coming to the iPad Air, featuring 8-core CPU that will deliver upto 60% faster performance. Also, its 8-core GPU makes the new iPad Air 2x faster than the previous model in terms of graphics performance. The giant leap in the performance delivers next-level experience even to the most demanding workflows.

According to Apple, this makes the new iPad Air the fastest competitive tablet till now, as well as 2x faster performing than the best-selling Windows laptops, concerning the price range.

The all-new iPad Air Features Center Stage with 12MP Ultra Wide Front Camera

iPad Air has 10.9-inch liquid retina display with 3.8 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness and a P3 wide color gamut. The screen also features an anti-reflective coating and True Tone to deliver immersive visual experience.

The new Air model features the 12MP ultra wide front camera with center stage that automatically keeps you in center of call while you move around. Even when other people joins, the camera detects them and  zooms out automatically to fit in the conversation. With 12MP wide camera at the back, it lets users take sharp photos and videos in 4k resolution.

For 2x faster transfer speed, the iPad Air has a USB-C port and 5G connectivity to the cellular models.

The new iPad Air is compatible with Apple Pencil (2nd generation), Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard Folio and Smart Folio in black, white, electric orange, dark cherry, English lavender, and marine blue.

Price And Availability

The new iPad Air is available in Wi-Fi model with a starting price of $599. And the Wi-Fi + Cellular models will start at $749. It comes in two configurations of 64GB and 256Gb, with array of five colors including: space gray, starlight, pink, purple, and blue.

iPad Air will be available to order from 11 March, Friday on the Apple store in 29 countries and the shipment will start from March 18.
